Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer slammed the government over “sleaze, cronyism and scandal” during a heated prime minister’s question time in the House of Commons today.
Taking place less than an hour after the Electoral Commission announced an investigation into the refurbishment of Number 11, Sir Keir warned the prime minister that “ministers who knowingly mislead parliament will be expected to offer their resignation”.
Boris Johnson claimed that he “covered the costs” of the refurbishment and denied reports he said “let the bodies pile high in their thousands” prior to locking down for the second time in October 2020.
