The right-handed India batter Manoj Tiwary bid farewell to his illustrious cricketing career as he announced his retirement from all forms of the game on Thursday, August 3.

Sharing the news on his Instagram account, Tiwary expressed deep gratitude towards cricket for enriching his life beyond imagination, especially during times of adversity.

“This game has given me everything; I mean every single thing that I had never dreamed of, starting from the times when my life was challenged by different forms of difficulties. Will ever be grateful to this game and to God, who has always been by my side throughout,” Tiwary wrote in his emotional retirement announcement.

Tiwary was dropped from the Indian team even after scoring a hundred

The 35-year-old batter last represented India in 2015, during a limited-overs series in Zimbabwe, where he scored 34 runs in three ODIs as part of a second-string squad. His journey in the national team had a brief run during the 2011-12 season when he played a memorable knock of 104 not out against the West Indies in Chennai. However, he was subsequently dropped from the squad.

Moreover, he was a prominent name in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and played for several franchises.

In first class cricket, he has over 9,000 runs with 29 hundreds, 45 fifties and a highest score of 303 not out.

Throughout his career, Tiwary exhibited resilience and determination, overcoming challenges to carve a successful path in cricket. His decision to retire marks the end of an era for Indian cricket, as fans and fellow cricketers bid adieu to a player who has left a lasting impact on the game.
