In the midst of this highly anticipated intense battle for contracts, a few notable players who graced the IPL stage in 2023 might face the harsh reality of going unsold in the IPL 2024 Auction. These cricketers, once part of the league’s glitz and glamour, now navigate a precarious path as they attempt to secure a place in the upcoming season. On that note, here are 5 T20 stars who played IPL 2023 that might get unsold in the upcoming auction.

Harry Brook, who secured a lucrative deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for 13.25 crores in IPL 2023, failed to meet expectations. Despite a promising debut century, he managed only 190 runs in 11 matches, leading to his release by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. Now enlisted in the 2 crore salary cap category, Brook may find it challenging to attract interest from any franchise.

2) Jason Holder

The West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder was purchased for Rs. 5.75 crore last year but had a forgettable IPL 2023 with Rajasthan Royals (RR), managing just four wickets and 12 runs in eight matches. Moreover, Holder’s recent international performances have also not been impressive. Listed in the 1.5 crore base price category, he faces uncertainty regarding securing a contract in the upcoming auction.

Acquired by Mumbai Indians (MI) as a replacement player for INR 2 crore in IPL 2023, Chris Jordan‘s impact was limited, managing only three wickets in six matches. Now listed in the 1.5 crore category, Jordan faces tough competition from other equally talented options available at a lower price, potentially diminishing his chances of securing a contract.

4) Adil Rashid

Adil Rashid‘s IPL 2023 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad saw him playing just two matches, securing two wickets. Despite maintaining the same 2 crore base price as the previous year, Rashid’s limited opportunities in the previous season may hinder his chances of acquiring a deal in the IPL 2024 Auction.

5) David Wiese

Namibian cricketer David Wiese, part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for 1 crore in IPL 2023, went wicketless in three matches. Despite his forgetful stint and lack of impact in the previous season, Wiese has registered himself in the 1 crore category for the upcoming auction which raises doubts about his prospects in securing a buyer this time.
