Cricket fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated India-Pakistan re-clash in the Asia Cup 2023. However, with the threat of rain looming over this much-awaited encounter, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) recently made an announcement that drew both relief and laughter from fans. The ACC introduced a reserve day for the India-Pakistan clash, ensuring that the game could be resumed if it gets interrupted due to bad weather.

The reserve day announcement

On Friday, the ACC made the significant announcement of a reserve day for the India-Pakistan match scheduled for Sunday, September 10. This decision was made in response to the disappointment caused by rain washing out the India-Pakistan clash during the league stage of the Asia Cup 2023. With the reserve day in place, fans can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the game will have a chance to reach its thrilling conclusion.

Wasim jaffer’s hilarious take

Reacting to the news of the reserve day, Wasim Jaffer, known for his humour on social media, took a light-hearted jab at the other teams participating in the Super 4s of the tournament after he observed that the reserve day had been exclusively earmarked for the India-Pakistan clash, and not for any other matches. He couldn’t help but find humour in the fact that ACC seemed to be extra generous when it came to this high-voltage encounter.

Taking to his X ( formerly Twitter) account, Jaffer shared a side-splitting video that perfectly encapsulated the situation. In the video, he used a scene from the Bollywood movie “Hum Saath Saath Hain” to humorously explain the apparent favouritism displayed by the ACC toward India and Pakistan.

In the video shared by Jaffer, three characters from the movie were cleverly paralleled with India, Pakistan, and the broadcaster, who received the “sweets” from the organizers in the form of a reserve day. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the other two teams in the Super 4s, were depicted as ending empty-handed. The comedic representation highlighted the unique treatment reserved for the India-Pakistan rivalry and left the fans in laughter.
