Rahul demonstrated resilience and composure for his side throughout the first innings. He notably crafted a sensible 43-run stand with Shardul Thakur for the seventh wicket, followed by another valuable 27-run partnership with Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Siraj also played a crucial role, contributing to a 47-run partnership with Rahul off 64 deliveries.

Rahul reached his century in style, hitting a maximum off Gerald Coetzee. However, an over later, Shane Burger claimed his third wicket, inducing sharp movement to breach Rahul’s defences. The 31-year-old departed for a well-earned 101, propelling India to 245 runs.
