Amanda-Jade Wellington and Grace Harris have been recalled to the 15-player squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup in New Zealand, but star spinner Sophie Molineux has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
While Wellington last played an ODI match in March 2018, Harris would return to the 50-overs set-up after November 2016.
“Molineux was unlikely to be available until the backend of the tournament and with limited match time and having to complete ten days managed isolation, it was a tough call, but we weren’t prepared to take the risk,” said national selector Shawn Flegler.
“Amanda-Jade provides us with another quality spin option and has the potential to play an important role spinning the ball away from the bat,” added Flegler.
Australia’s current squad boasts a wealth of talent and experience, with Meg Lanning set to captain a side eyeing at their first Women’s ODI World Cup victory since 2013.
Australia squad:
Darcie Brown, Nic Carey, Ash Gardner, Grace Harris, Rachael Haynes, Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Meg Lanning (c), Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Amanda-Jade Wellington.
Travelling reserves: Hannah Darlington, Georgia Redmayne.
