Wood last featured in an international match in December 2022 against Pakistan in Karachi. The 33-year-old pacer has been named in the English team’s squad for both ODI and T20I games versus Bangladesh, as the touring party wants to see him gain back momentum ahead of the Ashes series in June.
Wood also seemed to be looking forward to making a comeback in the international arena and was spotted practicing prior to the first ODI against the hosts. The video from the right-arm pacer’s training session left everyone in splits and became a major talking point on social media. In the clip, Wood can be seen participating in the catching drill, but as soon as the ball is hit in the air, he starts removing off his cap, goggles, jersey, and shorts. However, he attempts the catch at last.
Here’s the video:
Fans were amused to see the funny drill of the Durham cricketer and couldn’t control their laughter. Reacting to the video, one of the users wrote, “Bazball is going out of hands,” while another said, “It’s a good training drill to relocate losing and then trying to regain the sight and travel of a ball.”
Notably, Jos Buttler will lead England on their tour, and the three ODIs will take place on March 1, 3, and 6, followed by as many T20Is on March 9,12, and 14. The first match of the series will be held at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
After the conclusion of the white ball series in Bangladesh, Wood will resume his on-field action in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who bought him for a whopping INR 7.5 crore in the 2022 auction.
