Hasan was the highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in the match, picking up three scalps while conceding only 22 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Riding on Hasan’s terrific performance with the ball, Pakistan restricted Bangladesh at 127/7 in 20 overs.
During the first innings, a technical error from a bowling speed gun made Hasan leapfrog Shoaib Akhtar’s two-decade-old record for the fastest delivery in cricket history.
Notably, Akhtar had bowled a 161.3 km/h ball in the 2003 ODI World Cup against England, while Hasan’s second delivery against Bangladesh was clocked at 219 km/h, leaving everyone bewildered. Though, it is understood that this all happened due to a malfunction of the speed gun.

In their chase, Pakistan finished the game in the final over with four balls to spare and four wickets in hand. Fakhar Zaman (34 off 36) and Khushdil Shah (34 off 35) top-scored to take their team over the line.
For his splendid bowling in the contest, Hasan was named ‘Player of the Match’. After the game, Hasan admitted that he didn’t bowl well enough in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2021, so Friday’s performance was satisfying for him.
“Pleasant moment for me to win this award. My performance wasn’t upto the mark in the WC. As a professional player, ups and downs will come. I have been here in BPL. Normally it’s a slow pitch, as much as you can bowl into the stumps with variations, you’ll find success,” said Hasan at the post-match presentation.
