The overseas player draft for the upcoming Big Bash League 13 (BBL 13) was conducted in Melbourne on Sunday (September 3), featuring a comprehensive draft pool of 373 players. Among the notable selections, South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock is poised to make his debut in the BBL, having been picked by the Melbourne Renegades.

Additionally, this season will see the return of Harry Brook and Haris Rauf to the BBL, both set to represent the Melbourne Stars. While Rauf rejoins the league as part of the Men in Green, Brook is making his debut with the Glenn Maxwell-led side, having previously played for the Hurricanes.

Adelaide Strikers successfully retains Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan garnered attention when the Stars attempted to select him as their first choice. However, the Adelaide Strikers promptly intervened and utilized their retention pick to secure the services of this T20 superstar. Nevertheless, the Stars succeeded in acquiring Pakistan‘s spinner, Usama Mir.

Perth Scorchers added another intriguing element to the mix by including Zak Crawley in their squad, marking his debut in the BBL. Meanwhile, the Brisbane Heat succeeded in welcoming back two of their star players, Colin Munro and Sam Billings.

Sydney Sixers secure the return of Tom Curran

The Hobart Hurricanes pursued England all-rounder Tom Curran, but the Sydney Sixers acted promptly by using their retention pick to retain the 28-year-old in their squad. It’s worth noting that Curran recently earned the Player of the Match award in the final of the Men’s Hundred 2023. He played a crucial role with an unbeaten 67 runs off 34 balls, rescuing the Oval Invincibles (OVI) from a precarious position of 34/5 in just 36 balls.
