Boris Johnson has predicted that the UK’s economic recovery from the pandemic will be “steady” in the next year, but warned there would be “bumps on the road”. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecast that the UK’s economic output could grow by 7% this year.
The prime minister is currently suffering from a slump in the polls, following his self-isolation U-turn in July.
Like his economic forecast, Johnson will be hoping that his approval ratings are mere “bumps on the road” rather than a long-term decline.
