During the game, Shakib, who played a stunning 32-ball 67-run knock laced up with 7 fours and 4 sixes, lost his cool at the square leg umpire for not signalling a wide.
It all happened in the 16th over when Rejaur Rahman Raja bowled a slower bouncer, which went over Shakib’s head. As expected, the left-handed batter was hoping that the umpire would signal it a ‘wide’. But the umpire thought otherwise and called it a legitimate delivery. Soon, Shakib lost his cool as he charged aggressively towards the umpire and showed dissent. He was caught yelling at the umpire and got involved in a heated argument.

When it comes to the game, riding on Shakib’s quickfire knock, the Barishal managed to post a massive 194/7 on the board in their assigned 20 overs. Apart from the 35-year-old all-rounder, openers Chaturanga de Silva (36 off 25) and Anamul Haque (29 off 21) chipped in with valuable contributions at the top.
In response, Najmul Hossain Shanto (48 off 40) and Towhid Hridoy (55 off 34), along with Zakir Hasan with 18-ball 43, helped Strikers to chase down the humungous target with one over to spare. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Thisara Perera stayed unbeaten on 23 and 20, respectively, to take their side over the finish line.
“Fantastic match – batting point of view. Bowling, yes – good wicket. They got partnerships. That’s how T20s go on. Bowling is perhaps not up to the mark. 165-170, that’s what we thought in the middle. But the way Shakib batted. Need to find the way to go in rest of the matches. Mushy told everyone to go for it. After 10 overs we had a chat that we have to go from now every single ball. Happy as a team but not relaxing,” said Mashrafe Mortaza in the post-match presentation.
