Despite his poor form over the past few years, Kohli has bounced back and is expected to break the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international centuries. Several former cricketers and analysts have shown their belief in Kohli’s ability to achieve this feat. However, Ravi Shastri, former India cricketer and ex-coach, acknowledged that it would not be easy for Kohli to score 100 international centuries. Nonetheless, he stated that it would be a significant achievement if the star batter manages to reach this milestone.
“How many players have scored 100 hundreds? Just one. So if you are saying that he can cross that mark, it’s a big thing. He still has a lot of cricket left in him. He is very fit. And when a player of that class starts scoring centuries then it follows one after the other. Probably in a stretch of 15 matches, there will be seven hundreds. Kohli can still easily play cricket for 5-6 years because he is fit. But it is not easy by any stretch of imagination that is why only one guy has done it. But the fact that you are telling me he might reach there is a big thing,” said Shastri on Sports Yaari.
Kohli’s next challenge is the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, starting on March 31. As the key member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kohli will be aiming to guide his team to victory in the tournament. His recent century in the Test series against Australia will undoubtedly give him a confidence boost going into the IPL. Fans and cricket enthusiasts alike will be eagerly anticipating Kohli’s performance in the upcoming matches.
