The Daily Kos/Daily Kos Liberation League Black Solidarity Grant was conceived by our staff Equity Council in the wake of the 2020 uprisings in defense of Black lives. Every year, we donate 1% of our revenue to progressive Black-led organizations doing the work to make Black liberation a reality. Thanks to our generous donors, in 2020 and 2021 we funded 14 organizations that work on everything from abolition to climate resilience to reproductive freedom. This year, we have selected six organizations that prioritize meeting practical needs and building community resilience.
Previous grant award amounts were determined by a steering committee using a range of factors, including issue area, impact, reach, and region. This year, we are asking Daily Kos readers to help us choose how to distribute funds among the selected groups. We'll use your votes to help determine the total award amount for each organization.

The 2022 grantees of the Daily Kos/Daily Kos Liberation League Black Solidarity Grant are:
We take these grants seriously. Every group is interviewed and vetted. Each is already doing incredible work, often with few resources. In addition to funding, we aim to support their efforts with joint digital campaigns, by connecting them with other national groups and funders, and uplifting their work. Past cohorts have included trailblazing organizations like the People's Advocacy Institute, which jumped into action to help Jackson, Mississippi, residents access clean water when the governor abandoned the city; and the Black Collective, which built and leads a multigenerational, multilingual progressive infrastructure that holds Ron DeSantis and the Florida GOP to account.
Through the Black Solidarity Grant, Daily Kos reaffirms our commitment to uplifting Black leadership and continuing the fight to dismantle myriad systems that perpetuate violence against Black bodies. We couldn't be more proud to amplify the tireless work these organizations do, day in and day out, to build a pro-Black future.
You can vote for one, two, or all of the organizations. When the poll closes on Dec. 30, 2022, the steering committee will tabulate all votes and distribute the donations accordingly. Organizations will receive the grant in January 2023 and again in January 2024.
These six organizations are (not so) quietly revolutionizing our communities. Click here to cast a vote for this year's outstanding grantees!

Historic Westside Gardens ATL Inc, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the issues of food insecurity and breaking the cycle of unhealthy food choices.
