The Aussies clinched the T20 World Cup title for the first time since the tournament’s inception in 2007.
Chasing 173 for victory in the high-voltage clash, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh powered Australia to a historic win with magnificent half-centuries. Aaron Finch & Co. chased down the set target with seven balls to spare and stamped their authority over the Black Caps.
Marsh remained unbeaten on 77 as his astonishing knock was laced with 4 sixes and 6 four. While Warner got out on 53 after smashing 3 sixes and 4 fours.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson earlier led by example with a whirlwind 85 off 48 balls to power his side to 172/4 at the Dubai International Stadium.
Brief Scores:
- New Zealand: 172/4 in 20 overs. (Kane Williamson 85, Josh Hazlewood 3-16, Adam Zampa 1-26)
- Australia: 173/2 in 18.5 overs. (Mitchell Marsh 77 not out, David Warner 53; Trent Boult 2-18)

#Australia just too powerful. What a player Mitch Marsh has become. Hopefully his body becomes a partner in his future because he is too good to be playing as little he has. Brilliant today
