Brilliant bowling restrict India at a below-par total
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Australia’s decision paid off as they restricted India to a total of 240 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Despite a strong start from Rohit Sharma, who scored 47 runs off 31 balls, and a steady innings from Virat Kohli (54 runs off 63 balls), India lost wickets at regular intervals.
KL Rahul top-scored for India with a patient 66 off 107 balls. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers for Australia, claiming 3 wickets for 55 runs in his 10 overs.
Travis Head stuns with a brilliant century

For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful bowler, taking 2 wickets for 43 runs in his 9 overs. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj also picked up a wicket each, but couldn’t prevent Australia from clinching the title. Well played, Australia. ??
Started the campaign with two losses. Came into the World Cup on the back of two bilateral series losses. But they know how to win the trophy. ?
Well done ?

No way India shouldn’t win that game. Absolute heist from Australia. Up there with their biggest cricket achievements I would say. Says so much about the mental side of Australian cricket

Winning the World Test Championship final, retaining the Ashes in England, winning the ODI World Cup in India after losing their first two games: what an incredible year for Australian cricket

Roll the favourites for 240, chase it with 40 odd balls to spare, in front of 100k+ opposition fans, with more yellow shirts on the field than in the stands – a mauling.
An outstanding performance from Australia, a group of guys with a seriously impressive trophy cabinet

Well played Australia… They were 10th with zero points on October 15.

The 1999 triumph was remarkable, but this isn't far from it when you consider where Australia was at the start of this tournament. Not to mention the against-the-odds effort to beat India in the final in Ahmedabad. #CWC23
