Notably, the doubts were approaching over India-South Africa series after a new variant of COVID-19 – Omicron – was detected. But recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah had announced that India would tour South Africa for three Tests and as many One-Day Internationals (ODIs). However, the updated schedule wasn’t released.
Now CSA has revealed the revised itinerary as the tour starting with the Boxing Day Test that is set to be hosted by SuperSport Park in Centurion. The second Test will take place in Johannesburg while the final match will be played at Cape Town. After the three-match Test series, both teams will face each other in the three-match ODI leg, starting January 19.
“It is a pleasure for Cricket South Africa (CSA) to confirm the updated schedule for the India men’s tour to South Africa. As announced over the weekend, the tour has been reduced from three series to two; the Betway Test and One-Day International series, taking place from December 26 to January 23 2022, across four venues, following successful engagement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),” said CSA in an official statement.
“The four-match KFC T20 international series will be rescheduled for a more opportune time in the new year. The Test series will form part of the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship, while the ODI series will form part of the ICC Men’s World Cup Super League, the qualification tournament for the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup,” the statement added.
Here is the updated schedule of the India tour to South Africa 2021-22:

- Third Test – January 11-15, Cape Town
