As the Rohit Sharma-led side gear up for their final group stage match against the Netherlands, Siraj has shared his opinion on his status as the No. 1 ODI bowler and his aspirations for the upcoming knockout stage of the prestigious tournament.
ICC ODI rankings update: Mohammed Siraj reclaims the throne
In the most recent update of the ICC ODI rankings, Siraj reclaimed the coveted title of the No. 1 Bowler, surpassing South African spinner Keshav Maharaj. Inclining two spots, Siraj secured the top position for the second time in his career.
It is worth mentioning that the 29-year-old first ascended to this rank after his exceptional performance in the final of Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka, where his breathtaking spell of 6/21 wreaked havoc on the Lankan batting lineup. This latest achievement reaffirms his dominance and consistency in the ODI format.
Mohammed Siraj’s reaction on reaching the pinnacle again
In an interview with bcci.tv, Siraj shared his perspective on reclaiming the top spot in the ODI rankings for the second time. Despite acknowledging this significant milestone, the speedster humbly expressed that such individual achievements hold little personal value.
“To be honest, I was No.1 for some time in between, then I went down. The number doesn’t matter to me,” Siraj said.
