In the most recent update of the ICC ODI rankings, Siraj reclaimed the coveted title of the No. 1 Bowler, surpassing South African spinner Keshav Maharaj. Inclining two spots, Siraj secured the top position for the second time in his career.

It is worth mentioning that the 29-year-old first ascended to this rank after his exceptional performance in the final of Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka, where his breathtaking spell of 6/21 wreaked havoc on the Lankan batting lineup. This latest achievement reaffirms his dominance and consistency in the ODI format.

In an interview with bcci.tv, Siraj shared his perspective on reclaiming the top spot in the ODI rankings for the second time. Despite acknowledging this significant milestone, the speedster humbly expressed that such individual achievements hold little personal value.

“To be honest, I was No.1 for some time in between, then I went down. The number doesn’t matter to me,” Siraj said.

Mohammed Siraj reveals his ultimate goal​


The Hyderabad-born cricketer further emphasized that his primary objective is India’s triumph in the World Cup 2023, stating that his performance is valuable only if it contributes to the team’s wining cause.

“The goal is that India win the World Cup. That is the team and my goal. I hope my performance is good for India. This is all that matters,” Siraj added to his comments.
