Fans poke fun at Babar Azam for his poor performance against Sri Lanka
Pakistan’s hopes in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 suffered a blow as their captain, Babar Azam, failed to deliver with the bat in a crucial match against Sri Lanka. The disappointment of fans was palpable as they took to social media to express their frustration.

A substandard outing for Babar Azam

In what was a high-stakes encounter, Pakistan were tasked with chasing down a daunting target of 345 runs set by Sri Lanka. After the early dismissal of opener Imam-ul-Haq, all eyes were on their star batsman and captain, Babar, to anchor the innings.

However, Babar’s innings turned out to be a massive letdown. On the second ball of the 8th over, Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka delivered a full-length delivery that swung down leg. Babar attempted to glance it fine but managed only a slight tickle on the ball. Wicketkeeper Sadeera Samarawickrama moved to his left and took a comfortable catch, sending Babar back to the pavilion after scoring just 10 runs from 15 deliveries.

Netizens poke fun at Babar Azam

Babar’s early exit triggered an onslaught of trolling and memes on social media platforms. Disheartened fans and cricket enthusiasts expressed their disappointment with his performance, especially when Pakistan desperately needed their captain to lead from the front.

Social media was flooded with humorous memes and comments, with many netizens playfully mocking the captain’s inability to make a significant impact in such a crucial match. While Babar is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s premier batsmen, his below-par performance on this occasion left fans frustrated and searching for answers.
