Worth investing in Oliver Dowden’s share price this morning. Was out of the blocks very fast on Sunday over the ESL, and persuaded PM to throw Govt’s full weight behind stopping it, not without risk at the time. Seen as a no fuss deliverer. A significant Cabinet promotion likely.

9:17am – After several English clubs pulled out of the Super League, the competition looks all but over. But culture secretary Oliver Dowden pledged that the government’s fan-led review would still go ahead.
