9:34am –
An interesting insight into the PMs popularity up in Scotland… or potential lack of it. Also worth noting Johnson has been to Hartlepool where a heated by-election is being held in the long-standing Labour seat.

Douglas Ross says PM probably won’t come to Scotland during Holyrood campaign after talking on phone last night. Won’t even say he wants him to come… “not putting any pressure on” but great if it wants to, but he’s not. Must look pretty bleak internally…

8:55am – A phrase that I didn’t expect to say: it looks like football will dominate the political news today, at least this morning as all the ministers do the rounds to quickly condemn the league.

Shad Chx Anneliese Dodds said Tories had promised to review the role of fans in football, and it had not happened.

The Conservatives’ 2019 manifesto said: “We will set up a fan-led review of football governance, which will include consideration of the Owners and Directors Test.

8:25am – As mentioned, the government have been swift to condemn the European Super league, which will effectively replace the current UEFA champions league.

Housing minister Chris Pincher tells @NickFerrariLBC that the Government is opposed to the plans of a football super league.

"Clearly there's a lot of concern about the news… it's football for the fans, football for the grass roots, not for the elites."
