Asked to bat first, South Coast Sapphires put up a total of 131 runs for the loss of ten wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Kary Chan top-scored for the team with an impressive knock of 32 runs off 26 deliveries, including three fours and two sixes. Shabnim Ismail and Tash Farrant also contributed significantly, with 26 runs off 18 deliveries and 15 runs off 17 deliveries, respectively. Meanwhile, Marizanne Kapp was the pick of the bowlers for the Falcons, as she picked up three wickets and gave away only 15 runs in her quota of four overs.
Chasing a target of 132 runs, Falcons displayed a dominant batting performance and reached the target in just 13.3 overs for the loss of only one wicket. Chamari Athapaththu scored a brilliant knock of 75 runs off just 44 deliveries, including seven fours and six maximums. One of those sixes came off the fourth ball of the fourth over when Athapaththu went on her backfoot and hammered Erin Burns over the leg side.

On the other hand, Suzie Bates also played a vital role in the chase, scoring 42 runs off 30 deliveries. In the meantime, Sana Mir picked up the only wicket for South Coast Sapphires and gave away ten runs in the two overs she bowled. However, Sana’s efforts went in vain as Falcons won the match by nine wickets and 39 balls to spare. Atapattu was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for her match-winning knock.
With the win, Falcons have now moved up to the third spot in the points table with two wins in four matches, while South Coast Sapphires sit at the fifth position with just one win in their last four games.
