The cricketing world recently witnessed an exhilarating display of skill and determination as Australia emerged victorious in the ODI World Cup 2023 by defeating India with a margin of six wickets in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

Beyond the cricketing arena, the celebration of Australia’s triumph took an unpleasant turn for star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell‘s wife, Vini Raman. Trolls on social media targeted her for supporting Australia, questioning her loyalty due to Indian origin.

Vini Raman’s response to trolls

Vini hit back at the trolls by sharing a post on Instagram in which she expressed his displeasure over the hateful messages she received for supporting Australia. The Melbourne-born pharmacist clearly mentioned that she has every right to support the country of her birth despite her origin.

“Aaaaand cue all the hateful vile DMs. stay classy…can’t believe this needs to be said BUT you can be Indian and also support the country of your birth where you have been raised and more importantly the team your husband + father of your child plays in #nobrainer, take a chill pill and direct that outrage towards more important world issues,” posted Raman.

Glenn Maxwell’s stunning performance in ODI World Cup 2023

In the quest for ODI World Cup glory, Maxwell emerged as one of the standout performers, leaving an indelible mark with his exceptional skills and match-winning performances. In a tournament where every run counted, the right-handed batter’s willow did the talking, amassing an impressive 400 runs in nine innings at an astonishing average of 66.67. His strike rate of 150.38 demonstrated his ability to accelerate when needed, providing crucial momentum to the Australian innings.

What set the Kew-born cricketer apart was his ability to convert starts into substantial innings. Two centuries, including a memorable double hundred against Afghanistan, showcased his capacity to dominate the opposition and anchor the Australian innings. Maxwell’s stellar form contributed significantly to Australia’s success in the ODI World Cup and solidified his status as one of the most dynamic and impactful players in the cricketing world.
