One of the many museums dedicated to American history is Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello estate. This was the estate designed by Thomas Jefferson, built and worked by African American slaves. Monticello is one of the most famous slave plantations because it was home to one of the “Founding Fathers,” and a very important and powerful American historical figure. About half a million people visit the 5,000 acre Monticello every year in Charlottesville, Virginia. A big part of visiting a plantation is finding out that most of the structures and land on a plantation was worked on and lived on by slaves. In fact, outside of the main house—in which slaves worked—virtually every place to see at Monticello includes the stark fact that hundreds of slaves lived out their lives there.
Tucker Carlson was having a standard white supremacist masturbatory session on his show the other day, which included libertarian writer Jeffrey Tucker—who, like Carlson, has a penchant for wearing bow ties as a virtue signal of pretend intellect. His most recent scam is founding a group that angles itself as a nonprofit think tank for anti-maskers. Like most libertarians, Tucker saw a financial opportunity in undermining public health policies.
It turns out that Tucker wanted to tell Carlson all about how he recently visited Monticello and was super bummed out that they brought up how complicated Thomas Jefferson’s legacy is, with all of that hypocritical slavery and raping and stuff.

Talking about how Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence that “still inspires everybody today, all men are created equal and all of this kind of stuff ...” All of this kind of stuff. That’s how important that part of the Jefferson legacy actually is to a man like Tucker. Tucker went on to say that while he expected some sort of hagiography about Jefferson that only highlighted his virtuosity in the arts and sciences, instead he got “the opposite. Debunking his history. His reputation. Putting him down.”

Here’s a fun side note: Alexander Hamilton called once described Jefferson as someone “So seditious, so prostitute a character.” Any the whos! Here’s another little story about Jefferson and slavery and the half-sister slave of his wife, Sally Hemings—who Jefferson inherited as an infant from his father-in-law (and Hemings’ father), who Jefferson then fathered children with, while she remained a slave. They were all members of the extended Hemings family. Four were his children. Sally Hemings was ‘given her time’ after Jefferson’s death, but never legally freed.”

The real reason that people like Tucker want to attach their pretend “woke” culture war distraction to Jefferson is that they want to obfuscate any meaningful conversation about how the Founding Fathers fought and changed their opinions on things like federalism versus state’s rights. There’s a musical that touches on some of the early battles between Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson concerning those rights. Jefferson would later be accused of becoming too much of a federalist. Don’t worry—you won’t hear about that on Tucker Carlson’s show, or out of Jeffrey Tucker’s mouth.
