The disappointment surrounding the team’s showing prompted fans’ and experts’ criticism. Adding an intriguing dimension to the discourse, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh conducted a meticulous analysis of the Narendra Modi Stadium’s pitch, the battleground for this crucial encounter.
Harbhajan’s opinion on Narendra Modi stadium’ pitch
Harbhajan preferred a faster-paced pitch, lamenting the slower and drier conditions of the one under scrutiny. He indicated a preference for pitches conducive to higher scores, such as 300 plus, instead of the kind that brings the opposition into the game, mentioning that a more challenging pitch may be outside India’s favour.
“I think it was the kind of pitch which was on the slower side. It was drier than the usual pitch. You know, I would have liked to see a pitch where a lot of scores like 300 plus been scored. That sort of pitch would have India more than this kind of pitch where, you know, you bring your opposition in the game.,” Harbhajan said, as quoted by India Today.

Harbhajan further commended the Indian batters for their excellent form throughout the tournament, expressing pride in their fantastic cricketing display. The spin maestro suggested that a slightly more favourable pitch further enhanced their performance, indicating that the challenging wicket conditions might not have allowed them to showcase their potential fully.
“You know where your batters were in such great form. They looked really good throughout the tournament, and they were fantastic and very, very proud of them. The way they play their cricket. I think, a slightly better pitch would help them to perform better than what happened,” the 43-year-old added.
