During the second match of Ireland’s recent ODI series against Bangladesh in Chelmsford, Tector delivered an exceptional performance, achieving a career-best score of 140. Throughout the series, the 23-year-old displayed his batting prowess, accumulating a total of 206 runs from three impressive innings, making him the highest run-scorer.
As a result, Tector’s outstanding performance propelled him to rise by a significant 72 rating points and climb nine places in the rankings, securing the seventh position among batters. Following Tector are Kohli, De Kock, and Rohit, while Pakistan skipper Babar Azam remains at the top.
Tector’s current seventh position in the ODI rankings is a historic achievement for Ireland. With a rating of 722 points, he has attained the highest rating ever recorded by a male Irish batter in ODI cricket.
Previously, Eoin Morgan held the record with 712 points in 2019, but he was playing for England at that time. Among exclusively Irish players, the highest rating was achieved by Paul Stirling, who reached 697 points in June 2021. In the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe, Tector will have another opportunity to enhance his ranking further.
Tector’s teammate Mark Adair also experienced a significant gain in the rankings, climbing 30 places to secure the 31st position on the bowlers’ list and jumping 33 slots to acquire the 33rd position in the all-rounders’ category. Adair’s remarkable performance in the Bangladesh series, where he took seven wickets and scored 40 runs across two innings, contributed to his notable ascent in the rankings.
