India clinched a remarkable five-wicket victory over England in the fourth Test match in Ranchi, securing an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. Kohli, who refrained from participating in the Test series due to the arrival of his newborn son Akaay with his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, promptly congratulated the team on the social media platform X after the series win, particularly lauding the young talents.

Home dominance continues for Team India

India’s home dominance withstood the ‘Bazball’ storm as Rohit’s men regsitered a hard-fought five-wicket win over England in the fourth and penultimate Test, marking their 17th consecutive series triumph in their own backyard and delivering a stark reality check to the visitors’ one-dimensional approach.

Successful chase despite tense moments in the Ranchi Test

Commencing the final day’s play at 40/0 in pursuit of 192, India successfully chased down the target despite encountering some tense moments. Skipper Rohit (55) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (37 ) laid a robust foundation with their 84-run opening partnership.

Although there were some nervy moments following their dismissals and a swift fall of wickets, Shubman Gill (52) and Dhruv Jurel (39) guided the team to victory with an unbroken 72-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Left-arm spinner Tom Hartley grabbed the pivotal wicket of Rohit, while Shoaib Bashir emerged as the most successful English bowler, picking 3/79 in the second innings, amassing eight wickets in the match.

With a 3-1 lead in the series, India now readies for the final game scheduled in Dharamsala from March 7. The team’s last home series defeat dates back to 2012-13, against an Alastair Cook-led England.
