Building on his double century in the second Test against England, India‘s rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal maintained his aggressive form in the third Test at Rajkot, crafting another double hundred. In a display that bordered on audacity, he made a mockery of James Anderson‘s wealth of experience by smashing him for three consecutive sixes.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unyielding return​


Despite retiring hurt on the third day of the ongoing Test, Jaiswal showcased remarkable resilience as he returned to the crease, after the wicket of Shubman Gill who got dismissed in an unfortunate manner, picking up from where he left off the previous day. With India at 329/4 and Jaiswal batting on 159 off 198 balls, he unleashed a barrage of aggressive strokes against the England bowlers.

James Anderson’s challenge and response from Jaiswal​


In the 85th over, facing Anderson, the first ball resulted in a dot, but what ensued afterward was sheer mayhem. Anderson, attempting a yorker, bowled a full toss on the second ball. Seizing the opportunity, Jaiswal crouched low to flick it over fine leg, marking the initiation of his six-hitting spree. Subsequently, he charged down the wicket to dispatch a wide delivery outside off over extra cover. With no mercy, Jaiswal remained seated in his crease for the next ball, smashing Anderson for another maximum, this time over his head, completing a hat-trick of sixes.

Record-breaking symphony: Jaiswal’s feat and legacy​


Jaiswal’s remarkable display of power hitting resulted in setting multiple records. He etched his name in history as the first player ever to hit 20 sixes in a series, surpassing Rohit Sharma‘s previous record of 19 sixes in the 2019 home series against South Africa. Furthermore, he equaled the legendary Wasim Akram‘s long-standing record for the most sixes in an innings, matching Akram’s feat of 12 sixes achieved against Zimbabwe in 1996.

India’s dominance and a towering lead​


India asserted their dominance by declaring on 430/4, amassing a commanding 556 runs lead lead in the second innings. Jaiswal’s extraordinary performance, featuring a dazzling 236-ball 214, notched up his second double-century of the series. In the face of Jaiswal’s onslaught, every England bowler bore the brunt, but the particularly memorable over against Anderson took center stage.
