South Africa’s dominant record at home
South Africa have maintained a dominant Test record against India on their home soil. Even during India’s peak performances on foreign grounds in recent years, South Africa had managed to thwart their efforts. In the previous tour under the leadership of Virat Kohli, India secured a 1-0 lead, but South Africa rallied back to claim the series 2-1.

“I am ready to go, but only if there is no pain. There was some irritation in my knee for a very long time. I will have to get some tests and checkups done. So, if it is at the stage where it won’t trouble me again, I will surely go for the Test series,” Shami said.
Shami’s recent form
Shami showcased exceptional form during the recently concluded ODI 2023 World Cup, emerging as the leading wicket-taker with an impressive tally of 24 scalps from just seven outings. His stellar performance played a pivotal role in India’s campaign in the limited-overs tournament.
