MS Dhoni, the legendary cricketer, made a comeback to the iconic Chepauk venue after almost four years and showcased his six-hitting exploits during the sixth match of the IPL 2023. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain played a cameo in his team’s innings and tormented Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mark Wood in the final over. Dhoni launched an all-out attack on Wood and hit back-to-back sixes to help CSK post a mammoth total of 217-7 in 20 overs.

Dhoni’s batting performance soon became the talk of the town on social media, and his batting exploits even prompted legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh to tweet, “Vintage DHONI #Mahimaarahahai @ChennaiIPL @IPL.”

Dhoni’s two consecutive sixes helped him complete 5,000 runs in the IPL. He is now the seventh player to achieve this feat.

Dhoni started his innings by smashing a six off the first ball, which he has only done twice in his IPL career. However, he got out for 12 runs after facing just 3 deliveries as Wood got the better of CSK skipper on the fourth ball of his over.

Dhoni’s comeback to the Chepauk venue after a long time was eagerly awaited by the CSK fans, and he did not disappoint them with his batting performance. He turned back the clock and reminded everyone of his prowess as a six-hitter, which he has displayed numerous times in his IPL career.
