In the second essay, Varun Chakaravarthy and debutant Suyash Sharma were the standout performers, taking four and three wickets, respectively, and disrupting RCB’s batting lineup. The young 19-year-old spinner, who played a vital role in KKR’s victory, became a hot topic of discussion among fans after the match.
During the mini-auction held in December last year, KKR acquired the services of Suyash, a promising young cricketer from Delhi, for a price of INR 20 lakhs. Despite not being included in the starting lineup against RCB, Suyash made his presence felt as he replaced Venkatesh Iyer as the impact player and helped KKR to their resounding victory.
Notably, Suyash currently represents Delhi’s U-25 team and had not played any List A, FC or T20 matches prior to his impressive debut for KKR.
During an interview with Revsportz, the young lad shared that he initially began his cricketing journey as a batter but later transitioned to leg-spin bowling as he wanted to try something distinctive. He further expressed his love for the challenge of bowling against big players, revealing that he isn’t intimidated by the grand stage of IPL and believes that he belongs there. Suyash’s style of play is aggressive, and he prefers to keep attacking even after conceding a six.
Having made an impressive debut for KKR by taking three wickets in his very first game, Suyash is undoubtedly looking forward to showcasing more match-winning performances for his team as the tournament progresses.
