In order to raise awareness against cancer, GT sported a new lavender kit.
Lavender was chosen as the colour as it symbolizes all the different types of cancer and the lives sacrificed due to the disease.
“Cancer is a battle fought by millions in India and across the globe, and as a team, we feel responsible for raising awareness about this deadly disease. Wearing lavender jerseys is our way of showing solidarity with cancer patients, survivors, and their families. We hope our actions will inspire others to take preventive measures and support those who are fighting this battle,” said GT skipper Hardik Pandya at the toss where SRH captain Aiden Markram opted to bowl first.

In the crucial do-or-die match, SRH decided to make only one change in their playing XI, replacing Glenn Phillips with Marco Jansen. On the other hand, GT made three alterations to their lineup. Vijay Shankar’s absence due to being struck by a ball during practice led to the inclusion of Sai Sudarshan. Additionally, Dasun Shanka made his IPL debut and Yash Dayal returned to the team.
Looking ahead, GT have one more match to play in the season, which is against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). This match will take place in Bengaluru on May 21. To secure a top-two finish and ensure their place in the playoffs, GT will need to win both their remaining matches. The upcoming game against RCB holds significant importance for the defending champions as they aim to maintain their momentum and secure a favourable position in the tournament.
