The 68th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will mark the end of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) league stage campaign. Although the Lucknow-based franchise is currently in a strong position to reach the playoffs with 15 points, they still would look to make sure to seal their spot when they face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their only left-group stage game at the Eden Gardens Stadium on Saturday (May 20).

LSG players will be seen in a special jersey when they take the field at the Eden Gardens Stadium against KKR. The information regarding the same was conveyed by the official handle of LSG on various social media platforms, along with a caption and image featuring Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni and Marcus Stoinis. Notably, the colour of the jersey that the Lucknow players will don is inspired by the team’s sister franchise, ATK Mohun Bagan football club of the Indian Super League (ISL).

In the post shared on social media platforms, LSG said that wearing the special jersey would be a tribute to Mohun Bagan and Kolkata.

It is noteworthy that LSG’s owning authority RPSG (RP-Sanjiv Goenka group), bought a huge stake in the ATK Mohun Bagan football club in June 2020, and the club is soon to undergo rebranding to become Mohun Bagan Super Giants.

Speaking of the performance of the Lucknow-based side in the IPL 2023, the team performed well and has won seven of their 13 matches in the league so far with one washed-out game. In their most recent match, LSG defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in a close encounter. Stoinis and Mohsin Khan were the standout performers for the LSG in their win over MI. While Stoinis hammered 89 runs off 47 balls, Mohsin successfully defended 10 runs for in the final over.
