Jagadeesh may not be well known in international cricket, but he has a wealth of experience in the domestic circuit, having played 109 First Class games for Karnataka and later serving them as the batting coach. Under his coaching, Karnataka won three major titles – the Ranji Trophy, the Irani Cup and the Vijay Hazare Trophy – in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
Jagadeesh has a strong track record as a right-handed opening batter. He scored 7208 runs, including 20 tons, in his First Class career and has also played 100 List A matches.
Jagadeesh even played alongside Mark Boucher in the inaugural edition of the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Off late, Jagadeesh was the USA men’s team’s head coach. Under him, the USA recorded their biggest win over a Test-playing nation, emerging victorious against Ireland at home in a 1-1 series draw in Florida.
The five-time IPL champion, MI, on Wednesday announced the signing of Jagadeesh to their camp ahead of the sixteenth edition.
