The match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023 saw tempers flare up between both camps after the encounter on May 1.

The conflict began when Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, who is plying his trade for LSG in the IPL, said something to former RCB skipper Virat Kohli when he walked in to bat with Amit Mishra.

Mishra and the umpire intervened to calm the things down before the heated exchange shifted to the customary handshake between the two sides.

There, Naveen once again said something to Kohli but this time the latter did not hold himself back, responding before Glenn Maxwell moved the LSG bowler away. The incident escalated into a full-blown spat, with Gautam Gambhir, LSG mentor, standing up for his player and Kohli explaining what really happened.

After the heated exchange between the former teammates, LSG captain KL Rahul attempted to calm things down. However, in a weird turn of events, Naveen refused to listen to Rahul and went to the another part of the field. While the Afghan lad didn’t obey his skipper, Kohli looked shell-shocked seeing the former’s actions.

Taling about the match, RCB managed to put 126/9 on the scoreboard in a rain-delayed match, thanks to Faf du Plessis’ 44 off 40. In repply, LSG failed to chase the below-par total, losing wickets at regular intervals and getting bundled out for 108 runs in 19.5 overs. Krishnappa Gowtham’s 13 ball 23 was the highest score by any LSG batsman.
