Arjun had a tough task after MI skipper Rohit Sharma entrusted him to bowl the final over of SRH’s chase, where the hosts needed 20 runs to win the contest. Despite having the option of using Tim David and Hrithik Shokeen, Rohit went with Arjun, who had only bowled four overs before that in his IPL career.
The junior Tendulkar didn’t disappoint his skipper and went on to concede only five runs to help Mumbai seal the deal and register their third consecutive win in the 16th season of the cash-rich league. During the over, the left-armer also bagged his maiden IPL wicket when he dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Arjun’s performance also proved that he is not just a player because of his famous last name but rather because of his hard work and talent. Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta also praised the young cricketer and criticized those who were quick to judge and label someone as a product of nepotism without knowing the facts.
“Many mocked him for nepotism, but tonight he has shown his spot is well earned. Congrats Arjun. @sachin_rt you must be so proud #Arjuntendulkar #SRHvsMI #TATAIPL2023,” tweeted Zinta.

After the game, MI captain Rohit lavished praise on Arjun and said the young pacer has worked hard to improve his skills in bowling at the death, and his efforts were evident in the match.
“It’s quite exciting to play with Arjun. Life has come full circle. Arjun has been part of the squad for the last three years. I have seen him grow. He understands what he wants to do, and he is quite confident he can do it. He is trying to swing the new ball and bowling yorkers at the death,” said Rohit at the post-match presentation.
