The latest injury update came from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp when star Australia player Glenn Maxwell talked openly about his fitness. Speaking on the RCB Bold Diaries regarding his injury, Maxwell stated that it would take months for him to recover completely. However, the Aussie all-rounder clarified that he is fit enough to take part in IPL 2023 and is excited about the forthcoming event.
“In the last couple of years, that is everything that players have talked about, so finally to get back here after a couple of years, it’s very exciting and we are all pretty pumped to play in front of our home fans finally. The legs are okay. It’s alright. It’s still going to be a couple of months before I am at my 100% but hopefully, it is good enough to get through this tournament and still do the job. See you all at the Chinnaswamy stadium,” said Maxwell.
Notably, RCB purchased Maxwell in the 2021 players’ auction for a whopping price of INR 14.25 crore and retained him ahead of the 2022 mega auction.
Maxwell’s health would be a big concern for the Bangalore-based franchise as their pacer Josh Hazlewood is already doubtful to participate in IPL 2023. Meanwhile, the overall list of unfit players that have pulled out of the league features the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Kyle Jamieson, Prasidh Krishna and many other prominent names.
The Faf du Plessis-led side will start their IPL 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 2.
