It is not just the performances of the players that make the Indian Premier League (IPL) popular among cricket fans but also the unique way of its presentation. The organisers of the tournament have always come up with new innovations to widen its reach globally and enhance the excitement of cricket enthusiasts. Something similar was seen in the ongoing season of the IPL as well, which witnessed the addition of a few new rules, such as the ‘Impact Player’ rule and Decision Review System (DRS) for challenging umpires’ calls on wides and no balls.

Apart from all this, what took the world by storm in IPL 2023 was the ‘Bhojpuri’ commentary that became a major hit among viewers. The internet has been abuzz with commentary in the local language, and users have filled social media with numerous clips of it. Even star cricketer Virat Kohli couldn’t resist laughing at the funniest analogies made by the commentators describing his shots in Bhojpuri. The video of the same surfaced on the internet and has gone viral.

Notably, the 16th edition of the IPL is being streamed live on Jio Cinema in various regional languages, including Bhojpuri, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali and Marathi, catering to fans all over India.

Talking about Kohli’s performance in IPL 2023, the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) former captain has been in sensational form in the ongoing season and has scored 214 runs in four innings at an average of 71.33 and a strike rate of 147.58. He also has three half-centuries to his name in the tournament so far.

Kohli will next be seen in action when RCB faces Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday(April 17). While the Bangalore-based team is currently ranked seventh in the points table, with two wins from four matches, CSK are on the sixth spot.
