Aiden Markram takes a stunning catch
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are hosting Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 47 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The touring party won the toss and elected to bat, a decision which went in their favour after initial hiccups.

The Knight Riders ended up posting 171/9 in 20 overs, thanks to crucial contributions from skipper Nitish Rana and batting sensation Rinku Singh. While Rinku made 46 from 35 balls, Nitish chipped in with 31-ball 42.

The score, however, could’ve been much more had if Nitish not gotten out due to an absolute screamer from Aiden Markram. The SRH skipper got rid of his counterpart in the 12th over when he took a jaw-dropping catch off his own bowling.

Nitish, who was looking in sublime touch, was bowled slower and just outside off by Markram. It was the classical off-break delivery which turned away, and KKR captain went for a slog-sweep, only to get a huge top-edge.

For a moment it appeared the ball would fall in the no man’s land, but Markram had some other plans as he ran almost down to long-on and then dived forward to complete a mind-boggling catch.

Marco Jansen and T Natarajan both bowled exceptionally well for the Sunrisers. While Jansen bagged two wickets for 24 in three overs, Natarajan also picked up a couple for 30 in his quota of 4 overs.

“Very happy except for that no-ball, but otherwise very happy with my performance. We saw that there was quite a lot of bounce (on the pitch), so the plan was to hit the deck hard and get some lift from the surface. I want to have a wicket-taking mindset, so just go and try to execute the plan as much as possible,” said Jansesn in the mid-innings break.
