Asked to bat first, KKR got off to a very poor start, losing the top order quite early in the match. It was Willey for RCB who got his team their breakthrough by dismissing Iyer. On the next ball, the English fast bowler sent Mandeep back to the pavilion, making his tally of wickets two and giving no run the over. It all happened on the second and third ball of the 4th over.
The first wicket of Willey came from a short-of-length ball just outside off, causing a sharp movement off the seam and a bit of low bounce. Iyer tried to punch it off the back foot, but the ball cut back in suddenly and rattled his stumps.
On the other hand, the second dismissal for the RCB pacer came off a good-length delivery which Mandeep attempted to defend. However, the ball suddenly nipped away sharply, eluding the edge of the bat and crashing into the off stump. Willey seemed thrilled and celebrated the back-to-back wickets with a roar.

Notably, Willey made his way into the RCB’s playing eleven replacing his compatriot Reece Topley, who got injured in the first match. However, RCB would be happy to include the left-arm pacer in the line-up as it helped them put KKR on the backfoot early on in the game. Willey finished the innings with a figures of 4-1-16-2.
