Cameron Green struck a maiden IPL century after uncapped Indian pacer Akash Madhwal took four wickets for 37 runs for MI.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked SRH to bat first. Opener Mayank Agarwal with Vivrant Sharma gave a perfect start to the Sunrisers. They punished MI bowlers to all parts of the ground. It was only in 13.5 overs that MI bowler Madhwal got success in form of Vivrant. The breakthrough triggered a collapse as SRH’s middle order failed to capitalize on the solid platform set by the openers. They ended up on 200/5 in their stipulated overs.
In reply, MI got a perfect start with skipper Rohit (56 from 37 balls) and Green putting together 128 runs off 65 balls for the second wicket. After Rohit’s departure, Green and Suryakumar Yadav stretched a crucial partnership as they chased down the target with eight balls to spare. Green scored his maiden IPL ton in just 47 balls as MI kept their hope alive for the playoffs.
As it was the last home game of the season for the five-time IPL champions, the whole squad and team management decided to show respect towards the fans and gave them the lap of honour after the end of the match.
