MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl first, and the CKS bowlers didn’t let down his decision as they exhibited top-class performance to completely dominate the batting unit of Sunrisers. The Super Kings’ bowling was led by Ravindra Jadeja, who went on to pick up a three-wicket haul.
Jadeja trapped SRH batters in his web of spin and dismissed the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi and Mayank Agarwal. Among these dismissals, the one that gained the most attention was Agarwal’s, which was made possible by Dhoni’s exceptional wicketkeeping abilities.
During the 14th over, Jaddu delivered a short ball outside the off-stump, causing Agarwal to advance down the pitch, but he failed to connect with the ball properly. Dhoni seized the opportunity and executed a rapid stumping, which sent the crowd to go crazy at Chepauk.

Jaddu was well supported by the Sri Lankan duo of Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana as they displayed disciplined bowling to help CSK restrict SRH at 134 with a loss of 7 wickets. Theekshana bagged a wicket for 27 runs in 4 overs, and Pathirana also picked up one scalp while conceding 22 runs in 4 overs. Abhishek, with 34 off 26 was the top-scorer for the Sunrisers.
“We try to keep it simple as a spin group, one guy having a good day is enough. Hopefully, this is easy to chase. The wicket is a tiny bit slower, hasn’t changed a lot from the previous game and wasn’t spinning a lot. We need to still play well because they have a good bowling attack,” said Moeen Ali after the end of SRH’s innings.
