MS Dhoni facilitated for 200th game for CSK
India legend MS Dhoni has added another feather to his illustrious cap as he is captaining Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the 200th time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) contest against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

It’s worth noting that Dhoni had already completed 200 matches as a captain during the 2021 IPL season against the Royals, which made him the first-ever person to achieve this feat. However, he had also captained Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) during the 2016 IPL season. This time, Dhoni has made history by becoming the first captain in the IPL to lead a single franchise for the 200th time.

Ever since the inception of IPL back in 2008, Dhoni has been at the helm of CSK. Before this game against the Royals, he led the team in 199 games. The 41-year-old is renowned for holding several records and is regarded as the second-most successful captain in the history of IPL, having clinched four trophies.

On his special day, Dhoni also won the toss and elected to bowl first. The veteran stumper also mentioned his excitement and happiness about leading CSK for the 200th occasion.

“We will bowl first. It maybe slightly on the slower side, different from the first game. Dew may play a role and it might get better in the second innings. (On his 200th game as CSK captain in the IPL) It feels good and also I feel the crowd has been fantastic. Also the fact that we started in the old stadium, it was very hot and humid. But now it feels like we’re playing in Switzerland. It’s good to play. We have seen cricket change – how T20 was played at that point of time till now, a lot has changed. The crowd has been fantastic. We have had injury concerns and players were unavailable, so we have done well,” said Dhoni at the toss.
