Chesapeake, Virginia, SWAT team executed a search warrant at the suspect’s house in conjunction with the Virginia State Police, and the residence was “cleared,” according to a news conference from Virginia officials.
Richard W. “Rick” West, the mayor of Chesapeake, told The Washington Post he is “devasted by the senseless act of violence that took place late last night.”
Just days after the last mass shooting in the United States, at least six people are dead, and at least four others were injured more are injured in yet another mass shooting, officials say, this one in a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Officers responded to a call at 10:12 Tuesday night while the store was open. CNN reports that, according to a law enforcement source, the shooter was an employee or former employee who opened fire in the break room. The Washington Post reports the shooter used a pistol and died of a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Officials are expected to provide another update around 8 AM ET.

Three individuals, including the shooter, were located deceased in the break room of the store. One victim was located deceased toward the front of the store. Three other victims were transported to local hospitals for further treatment, but succumbed to their injuries. (2/4)
