MI New York & San Francisco Unicorns reveal their captains
MI New York – Kieron Pollard
After being an integral part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) team for 13 years, Pollard bid farewell to the IPL last year. However, he has now taken up the role of batting coach for MI. Despite his retirement from the IPL, Pollard continues to actively participate in competitive cricket globally. He leads MI Emirates, a team in which Trent Boult and Nicholas Pooran have also played.
Furthermore, the esteemed MI legend has been appointed as the captain of MI New York in MLC 2023. The team boasts a formidable lineup including Afghanistan’s T20 captain Rashid Khan, former West Indies captain Pooran, New Zealand fast bowler Boult, the hard-hitting batter Tim David and pacer Jason Behrendorff from Australia. Additionally, rising South African star Dewald Brevis, pace sensation Kagiso Rabada and Namibian all-rounder David Wiese will also contribute to the team’s strength.
San Francisco Unicorns – Aaron Finch
The San Francisco Unicorns have appointed former Australia captain Aaron Finch as their team captain. Joining him at the Unicorns will be his countrymen Marcus Stoinis. Additionally, the team has acquired the services of Victoria fast bowler Brody Couch, who became eligible for the draft due to his American mother.
Finch, a marquee signing for the new competition, made headlines with his retirement from international cricket in February this year. Known for his exceptional batting skills, Finch amassed more than 3,120 runs in 103 T20I while representing Australia. The 36-year-old holds the record of highest individual score in T20Is, with 172 runs off just 76 balls against Zimbabwe in July 2018.
