Mohammad Azharuddin on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Former India cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin has shared his views on the latest developments of Indian cricket concerning Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Notably, Rohit has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against South Africa due to an injury he sustained during Team India’s net session.

Similarly, there have been some reports circulating in the media stating that Kohli is expected to skip the ODI series against Proteas. Although the BCCI has yet to make an official statement about Kohli’s participation in the ODI series, but sources have claimed that the 32-year-old is out due to ‘personal reasons’.

Azharuddin has shared his thoughts on these developments and raised questions on the timing of Rohit’s injury ahead of the Test series and Kohli’s break from ODI fixtures. Azhar said there is no harm in taking a break but mentioned the timing of such a turn of events vindicates the speculation of the rift between the two superstars of Indian cricket.

“Virat Kohli has informed that he’s not available for the ODI series & Rohit Sharma is unavailable fr d upcoming test. There is no harm in takin a break, but d timing has to be better. This just substantiates speculation abt d rift. Neither wil be giving up d other form of cricket,” Azharuddin wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Amid all the rumours in the media, recently Rohit, in an interview with BCCI, had said that his predecessor Kohli led from the front in the five years, and he is looking forward to enjoying the matches with him in the future.

“We had a great time playing under him. I have played a lot of cricket with him and enjoyed each and every moment, and I will still continue to do that. We need to keep getting better as a team and as individuals, and that will be the focus for not just me but for the entire squad moving forward,” Rohit had said.
