Thailand Women began their innings with a solid performance from their top order batters Sornnarin Tippoch (41) and Natthakan Chantham (54) provided a terrific foundation with their gritty innings, hitting crucial boundaries along the way.
However, wickets fell at regular intervals, and despite contributions from Chanida Sutthiruang (25) and Suleeporn Laomi (22), Thailand Women were bowled out for 217 runs in 50 overs. Audrey Mazvishaya (2/36) and Kellies Ndlovu (3/17) were the pick of the bowlers for Zimbabwe Women.
In response, Zimbabwe Women faced a challenging target of 218 runs. But, their batters struggled to build substantial partnerships. Sharne Mayers (37) and Modester Mupachikwa (27) fought hard, but wickets kept falling at crucial moments.
Nomvelo Sibanda (33) and Josephine Nkomo (31) put up a valiant effort, but it was not enough as Zimbabwe Women could only manage 172/9 in their allotted 50 overs, losing the contest by 45 runs. Chanida Sutthiruang (2/14) and Suleeporn Laomi (2/26) were the key wicket-takers for Thailand Women.
