Coming back to the third ODI, the hosts won the toss and invited India to bat first. The decision paid off well as New Zealand bowlers made Indian batters run for their money, eventually packing them for 219 in 47.3 overs. The total could’ve been much less, but Washington Sundar and Shreyas Iyer played crucial knocks to help the visitors reach the 200-run mark. While Iyer missed out on his fifty by a solitary run, Sundar scored 51 off 64 deliveries with the help of five fours and a six.
For the Black Caps, Adam Milne and Daryl Mitchell were the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets apiece. Milne was a bit expensive as he conceded 57 runs in his quota of 10 overs. But Mitchell, on the other hand, was quite economical, giving away only 25 runs in seven overs.
New Zealand, in response, started watchfully. The remarkable batting display from Devon Conway and Finn Allen put the home team in a commanding position. Allen smashed 57 and formed a stunning 97-run opening stand with Conway before getting out to Umran Malik.
New Zealand looked comfortable at 104/1 in 18 overs when the rain arrived. The umpires waited for a definite time period before abandoning off the match. Notably, a minimum of 20 overs is required to decide the result in one-dayers.

It was a tour that never really took off. The stand-outs were Sky in T20 and Shubman and Washington in the ODIs. Very impressed with those two. They are ready.

Kane Williamson"Even in the rained-off matches, we did well. It is odd to have so much rain being the decider, but I thought we did well. We knew that 20 overs constitute a match and there was a bit of weather coming.

No ODI wins for India against New Zealand in the last 8 matches, their last win came against them in February 2019. Rain saves the day for them today. Drought! #NZvIND
