New Zealand are all set to tour Pakistan twice in the space of five months for the multi-format series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday (October 9). The Black Caps will become the third high-profile team to visit Pakistan in recent times, following Australia and England.

In the first leg of the tour, New Zealand will play two Tests, which are part of the ICC World Test Championship to be played in Karachi (December 27-31) and Multan (January 4-8). The action will move to Karachi for three ODIs that are part of the ICC Super League on January 11, 13 and 15.

Then in the second leg of the tour, New Zealand will again return to Pakistan in April and May to play five more T20Is and ODIs. The first four T20Is will be played in Karachi on April 13, 15, 16 and 19 before the teams travel to Lahore for the fifth and final T20I.

Following the T20I leg, both teams will meet in the ODI leg, which is not part of the Super League. The first two matches will take place in Lahore on April 26 and 28, while the last three ODIs are scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi on May 1, 4 and 7.

“New Zealand is one of the high-performing sides, and the more we will play against the top teams in our backyard, the better we will get as a unit, which is crucial to our objective of featuring inside the top three across all formats,” said Zakir Khan, PCB Director in a statement.

“Three Tests against England followed by two Tests versus New Zealand over six weeks will give us a chance to strengthen our claims for a place in the ICC World Test Championship final. The eight ODIs will help us to prepare for September’s Asia Cup and October’s 50-over ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023,” he added.
