In the news today: Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin released a pomp-rich but substance-thin editorial announcing his opposition to a Democratic voting rights bill because ... Republicans don't like it. Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows is now known to have pressured the Justice Department to open investigations supporting pro-Trump election hoaxes, an act apparently intended to further sow doubt on the election results in the weeks before Trump would mount a last-ditch attempt to overturn the election by organizing a mob of violent supporters to intimidate Congress into do so.
