Over one hundred countries from across the world are calling for a waiver in intellectual property rights for covid medical products, including vaccines, treatments and PPE.
Roz Scourse, policy advisor at Médecins Sans Frontières Access Campaign, warned that poorer countries are being “left behind” as the developed world recovers from the pandemic, pointing to the worrying scenes in India.
Prof. John Middleton, president of the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region, accused wealthy countries of “vaccine nationalism”, saying: “We’re still operating in old mode thinking. We’re not seeing it as an international problem.”
